Since the emergence of Covid, the toll it is taking on the physical and mental health of our teens and young people is being well documented.
This week at Seed, we are focussing on all aspects of Teen Health, exploring different ways you can help guide and support them through these uncertain times. This will include top tips from our experts on a range of common issues covering mental health, diet, exercise, sleep, skin and more.
Even before Covid, mental health among our young was already a focal point for our government, charities and schools. Now, 6 months into the pandemic, reports are showing many more are struggling with the likes of stress, anxiety, low mood, OCD, loneliness from isolation and so on.
The good news is there is a lot we can do to help support our teens during this time. Our experts will be sharing their best tips and advice throughout the week as below:
TUESDAY 6th October – How your teen can build mental resilience and retain a positive outlook

Having worked with teens for many years and with a particular interest in neuroscience, Clare and has an acute understanding of how the teenage brain works. She will be sharing her thoughts, tips and advice for both teens and their parents on how they can build resilience and retain a positive outlook in uncertain times.
WEDNESDAY 7th October– Diet / Nutrition & Exercise
Acclaimed nutritional therapist and teen yoga teacher, Kristina Carman, will share her top nutritional AND exercise tips for teens that will support both their physical and mental health.
THURSDAY 8th October – Teen Skin
Teen Acne, Rosacea & Problem Skin – Having suffered from acute acne and rosacea throughout her teens, no one understands the hardship of problematic skin more than skin specialist, Lydia Harrison. Lydia works extensively with teens and young people and she is happy to share details of her own journey and what she discovered along the way that helped to mitigate its impact both physically and psychologically.
Daily skin care for teens – If you are wondering what your teen should be using on their skin, Emily Lamont, local ambassador for natural skincare brand, Tropic, will share what products and ingredients work best for both female and male teens and why.
FRIDAY 9th October – Natural remedies to boost mental / emotional health
We ask our expert to share their knowledge of the most effective plant oils, herbs and flowers to support mental and emotional health of teens including stress, anxiety, sleep and more along with the scientific research behind them.
SATURDAY 10th October – Teen Mental Health
Introducing Clinical Psychologist Anouk Houdijk, who specialises in mental health for teens in crisis. Anouk has worked extensively in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and offers support for teens and young people for a range of issues including stress, anxiety, OCD, post-traumatic stress, social anxiety and more.
