Seed Wellness Workshops
WOMEN’S HEALTH WORKSHOP
Why focus on Women’s Health? Women are cyclical beings with a biology that changes daily, weekly and monthly and with distinct emotional, physical and hormonal seasons of life. So, the more information she has to support her, the better.
The modern world has evolved around the 24-hour rhythm that syncs perfectly with our circadian rhythm, the body’s innate timekeeper that is experienced by both men and women. However, women also have a second cycle called the infradian rhythm, a 28-day cycle that regulates the menstrual cycle. The infradian rhythm, also referred to as the body’s ‘second clock’, powerfully affects different systems of the body whether she is still physically cycling or not, including the brain, metabolism, the immune system, microbiome (gut health), the stress response system and the reproductive system.
Aim of workshop – To shed new light on the subject of women’s health through a wider lense, highlighting the impact of a woman’s cycle on her health and how she can better understand / connect with her cycle / seasons of life for improved overall health, wellbeing and productivity. This workshop provides a safe and confidential space for women to be educated on areas of their health that can often be overlooked in mainstream healthcare (pelvic floor, fertility, post-natal care, hormonal health, menopause etc) & encouraged / empowered to ask questions.
MEN’S HEALTH WORKSHOP
Discussing the subject of men’s health, the most common health issues men face and why / how to mitigate risks through positive lifestyle choices etc.
Covering issues men tend not to talk about but are leading health risks for them such as prostate cancer, sexual health, fertility & mental health and what can be done to improve these issues.
Why focus on Men’s Health? It’s a fact that there is gender inequality in health. Men are more likely to die younger than women (one in five men die before the age of 65 – that’s 20% of men who won’t reach retirement age). Why? Because they are at higher risk of serious health issues such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, certain types of cancer such as prostate and testicular, and mental health issues such as depression and suicide. Again, particularly right now with Covid, the pressure for men to keep it all together is even higher.
Why is the risk greater for men? Research shows that men are less healthy than women, with more likelihood to smoke, drink alcohol to excess and be overweight or obese. Men are also less likely to visit a healthcare professional or GP, putting off a health check until their symptoms can no longer be ignored. Further studies show that men who suffer frequent bouts of depression are 40% more likely to develop heart disease.
Aim of workshop – Knowledge is power. It’s a fact that men with unhealthy lifestyles are more at risk of illness and disease. So, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the biggest single thing they can do to help reduce this risk. This includes eating healthily, taking regular exercise, relieving stress and addressing poor mental health. We want men to feel comfortable to discuss any issues in this confidential safe space with experts in their field.
NUTRITION FOR BETTER VITALITY, ENERGY & MENTAL HEALTH
Why focus on nutrition? We are what we eat and there are many ways to approach food and nutrition for you as well as your whole family to ensure better health and wellbeing, energy and vitality.
Why focus on gut health? Research shows a strong intrinsic link between the brain and gut, and therefore mental health and gut health. This information helps people to ‘join the dots’ in terms of food they eat and how this relates to their general state of mind.
Aim of workshop – to inspire and inform people who may not even be into cooking to make positive & permanent dietary choices to boost their physical health & mental wellbeing
MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP – Psychology & CBT / Psychotherapy & NLP
Why focus on mental Health? Due to the pandemic, the last year has seen an unprecedented rise in people suffering with stress, anxiety, depression and sleep issues.
Aim of Workshop – How to move through 2021 with power and positivity. Normalising the discussion around mental health & the worries & stress we all feel – Providing tips, tools and techniques from different disciplines in mental health to help people better cope with / navigate the uncertainties ahead.
NATURAL WAYS TO BOOST HEALTH, IMMUNITY & MENTAL HEALTH
Why focus on natural health? With more people seeking / turning to non-pharmaceutical solutions than ever before, it’s important for people to be more informed about what’s out there and available that is more natural rather than pharmaceutically based.
Aim of workshop – Our medical system is aware of and concerned about our rising dependence on medications such as pain killers, sleeping pills, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety pills etc. This workshop aims to inform, inspire and empower people through more natural means such as naturopathy, homeopathy, herbal remedies and how these increasingly popular and very different modalities can boost health and wellness and mitigate illness. Learn how small, simple changes can add up to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
DESK YOGA & MEDITATION SESSION
Aim of workshop – 30 minutes of desk yoga to teach people different stretches they can do whilst at their desks to create space, ease aches and pains, melt away mental and physical tension.
Followed by 30 minutes of guided meditation (what is meditation plus 20-minute guided experience). This is a really lovely calming experience – a real treat!
COACHING WORKSHOP – Building Resilience
Why focus on resilience coaching? Building resilience is key to coping effectively with the pressures of life, both inside and outside the workplace. We use the WRAW resilience assessment to pinpoint how resilience employees are individually and where they need to focus to strengthen their resilience.
Aim of Workshop – to help people become more resilient and therefore be more optimal in their performance at work. The session will provide creative exercises, tools and techniques that will help people rejig or even mentally reframe their current set up.
MUSCULAR SKELETAL DISORDERS – Retain good physiology& avoid MSDs when working from home
Why focus on physiology? While remote working has many benefits, this increase in sedentary living and sitting for long periods of time, combined with the lack of ergonomic remote workspaces, is contributing to the development or aggravation of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among workers. And this risk is now even greater since COVID as many more employees are working in poorly adapted environments.
Aim of Workshop – covering different ways to mitigate this risk, exploring how to adapt working environments and routines; sit in correct seated positions; tips and tricks to keep the body moving throughout the day; and the psychosocial risks such as isolation, stress and anxiety, how these translate into MSDs and what to do to reduce this impact on both body and mind.
