So, the Christmas countdown has begun, but will you survive the chaos? Here at Seed, we have a wide range of products, services and top tips to help you and your loved ones feel healthy and balanced during and beyond the festive madness.
Remember to breathe!
“Breath work is the new big thing in the wellness world. It is universally useful and accessible to everyone regardless of gender, age and fitness levels. It is your own superpower that you can access once you learn some techniques. Benefits are many from increasing energy and managing stress / anxiety to boosting cardiovascular flow and aiding digestion. For many it also connects you to your deeper sense of self or ‘spirit’.”
Kirsten Orchard, yoga, transformational breath + mindful movement teacher and studio owner
Try to be mindful of how much you are eating & drinking!
“Christmas is a time when we tend to overindulge, so it’s a great idea to practice portion control (but perhaps not on the big day itself :-)! You can easily use your hand as a guide to monitor how much you are eating at each meal. The fleshy part of your palm is around the correct serving size of protein i.e. turkey/nut roast. A clenched fist size serving of carbohydrates i.e. potatoes and your thumb tip is the appropriate serving of oils/butters. The good news is that vegetables and salads are unlimited so fill up on those as they’re fantastic for your gut health, skin and your energy levels.”
“And remember that while it’s important to stay hydrated try not to drink while your eating. You can drink a big glass of water before your meal and then again afterwards – but try to refrain from drinking during you meals (which can be tricky to do with wine and other goodies on the table). Drinking and eating at the same time can upset the digestive process. Chew slowly and approach meal time as the calm and joyful experience it is – a time to nourish to flourish!”

Detox before or after the festive excess
“Research shows that fasting promotes a healthier digestive system, boosts health markers and reduces our desire to binge. Following some sort of detox or fasting programme helps to cut cravings, improve nutrition, promote weight loss, detox the body, improve skin and promote clean, healthy eating. Cleansing is all about clearing the clutter inside your body and by doing so, will reset your body so you feel renewed and ready to go”.

Engage in gentle exercise that supports your emotional health
“Yoga, Barre and Pilates all help to restore balance in both body and mind, bringing us out of stress (fight or flight) mode and into ‘rest and digest’. Cultivating strength, flexibility and balance, these gentler forms of exercise help to tone muscles, improve core strength and promote fitness whilst calming the monkey mind.”
Kate Kirrane, Yoga Teacher
Use therapeutic grade essential oils to help you relax
“Wild Orange, Balance and Vetiver are three great oils for aiding relaxation, not just for you but everybody in your household. Simply add a few drops in a diffuser in the busiest room of the house and allow the oils to work their magic.”
Adele Wimsett, Women’s Health & doTerra Oils Practitioner
Have a Himalayan salt bath
“Comprising over 80 minerals, a bath full of Himalayan salts are great for both the skin and soul. As well as providing a relaxing, therapeutic bathing experience, they also make a great gift!”
