MELT Method

Based on the principles of neurofascial science, MELT is a gentle self-treatment technique in the form of a small group class or 1:1 session that enhances mobility, stability, and performance and is clinically proven to reduce chronic pain while restoring overall wellbeing. This gentle self-care technique uses a variety of tools such as rollers, balls and bands to release tension from the body. it is ideal for anyone and everyone, helping to:

  • Reduce / overcome chronic pain
  • Reduce muscular stiffness
  • Enhance mobility, stability and performance
  • Restore overall wellbeing

So how does it work?

Fascia is the supportive connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, organ, bone, blood vessel, and nerve fibre in your body. So what causes the dehydration there that can lead to things like back pain, joint pain, tension, headaches, and all kinds of instability? Our repetitive, everyday motions lead to the dehydration we call ‘Stuck Stress’.

When you use MELT’s specific techniques, you help undo this tension by bringing a flush of fresh fluid through the system to restore your fascia’s supportive, supple nature. You also release compression and tension that brings imbalance and misalignment that can potentially create more Stuck Stress later on.

The essential MELT protocol refers to the 4 Rs as follows:

  • RECONNECT – Assess and Reassess!  We start and end every class with these two techniques to help identify imbalances and monitor changes.
  • REBALANCE – Rebalance moves focus on return the NeuroCore to efficiency and balance, which de-stresses the body’s Autopilot, your internal GPS.
  • REHYDRATE – Restore the mobility and stability of your joints and muscle mechanics by rejuvenating the fascial system and fluid flow throughout the body.
  • RELEASE – Release the joint compression that contributes to chronic pain, inflammation, and discomfort with these powerful moves!
