Anouk qualified as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist 12 years ago and has over 17 years experience of working within mental health. She is also a yoga teacher, is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and Yoga Alliance.
“I grew up moving around a lot with my family and became very interested in the differences between people and why they behave the way they do.
I am qualified and experienced in a variety of talking and experiential therapies including Behavioural Therapies; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and The FLASH Technique; and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
This allows me to draw on a range of therapeutic models and techniques to suit your individual needs. At the end of an initial assessment, we will map out your difficulties together and link your treatment plan directly to this. This could include more formal talking therapy but may also reference lifestyle changes or linking in with other professionals and services.
I have worked extensively in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and my current roles include working with Berkshire NHS Foundation Trusts’ Veterans Complex Treatment Service, and Lecturing at Reading University.
I am particularly interested in working with Anxiety and Trauma and the body-mind connection. I offer 1:1 therapeutic sessions and also run trauma informed yoga courses throughout the year. These courses work with movement, mindfulness, breath and imagery to support you in healing from past trauma in a stabilised and safe way.
I consider it a real privilege when people share with me the things they would not, or do not necessarily share with others. For me, this can only happen in the context of a very human to human, authentic connection which is professional, but heart felt all at once. From these connections, shifts in ideas, emotions, and sensations can take place.
The ‘A Ha’ moment that brings the space for someone to experience themselves differently, these moments, or even just helping someone edge towards them, exploring the barriers and resistances along the way, brings me great joy and meaning in my work.”
