Hot from the US, Light Therapy is gaining popularity in the world of wellness. Emma Seddon, Seed’s Light Therapist, talks about how this modality provides a great healing aid for a wide range of health conditions including pain, injury, inflammation and even disease.
Light therapy is the exposure of light at a specific wavelength using Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and has been clinically proven to offer extensive health benefits. In basic terms, light (red or near infrared) is applied directly to skin, stimulating vital cell function which enhances the body’s natural healing process.
Said Emma, “I first discovered the power of light therapy when my horse suffered a nasty soft tissue injury on his leg. Due to the position of the injury, conventional stitches were not holding and the wound became infected. Despite antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, the wound would not heal. A friend sent me a home use light therapy machine and talked me through how to use it. I was taking photos weekly and I could literally see the wound healing before my eyes!”
All cells are driven by energy. Therefore, the more energetic our cells, the healthier our body. Light therapy is simply an energy source of light that encourages your cells to start healing. It also provides natural pain relief and is thus an effective alternative to pharmaceuticals and surgery. It helps a wide range of health conditions including pain and injury, fibromyalgia, inflammatory conditions, arthritis, wound healing and skin conditions and even long-term, degenerative diseases.
Said Emma, “With a health service that is creaking and symptoms needing exceptionally strong pain medications, this is now starting to change as more physiotherapists, dentists and hospitals are seeing the benefit of offering laser or light therapy. From a wellness perspective light therapy is extremely versatile as it works exceptionally well alongside other therapies. It also gives the patient control back over their health.”
