“After suffering from muscular skeletal issues when I was younger and then challenges of menopause, I turned to acupuncture and have always found it remarkably effective. I originally worked in the corporate world as a graphic designer, eventually running my own business and therefore have a good understanding of the stresses and strains both mental and physical that life and work can throw at you.
The decision to re-train in this modality has, without doubt been the best decision I ever made. I hold a BSc (Hons) degree together with a Lic.Ac, this was a full time 3½ year course from the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. I am a member of the BAcC (British Acupuncture Council) and the BMAS (British Medical Acupuncture Society). These governing bodies are regulated by the professional standards authority.
I practice a combination of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Five Element acupuncture, which places the patient at the core of the diagnostic process. It focuses on understanding and addressing underlying imbalances which can lead to chronic pain and sickness. The physician Sir William Osler was quoted “Don’t tell me what type of disease the patient has, tell me what type of patient has the disease” In the case of chronic symptoms, this is a simple way of understanding how this amazing medicine works.
Acupuncture is more than a profession; it’s a calling that brings immense satisfaction. Witnessing the positive impact it can have, reinforces my belief in the power of this ancient practice.
