“I am a BANT registered nutritional therapist, specialising in child nutrition, helping parents feel confident about making the right food choices so their children get the best start in life to grow, learn and thrive. I also specialise in children with neurodiversity including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia & Dyspraxia.
I work with families to help create a positive relationship with food and enjoy healthy family meals. My mission is to take away some of the stress and worry for parents struggling with fussy eaters so they can enjoy the early years of parenting.
I worked in the food industry for 10 years, creating recipes. When I had children, I struggled to wean my second child, enduring many battles to encourage him to eat home-cooked meals. He would only eat beige processed foods, refusing to try anything new. At first, we thought it was a phase but it continued and when we sought help, we found there was very little support and advice available. It was exhausting and worrying and my stress and anxiety only made things worse, contributing to my son’s negative relationship with food.
Years later, I discovered he had a sensory eating disorder, sensitive to some textures, flavours and smells. This gave me the push I needed to retrain in nutritional therapy to provide support to other mums in a similar situation. I changed my approach; I was calmer and mealtimes were more pleasant. Gradually, we are now adding healthy foods to his safe list.
Our children are growing fast and good nutrition is vital for their immunity, mental health, their learning and development and for an easy puberty. Healthy eating is also associated with improving self-esteem, and fewer emotional problems.
Where possible I try a food-first approach, sharing simple recipes that suit your busy lifestyle and budget. I totally understand that not all children like to try new foods and can have a restricted diet so I adapt my programs to suit your child’s needs.
Mums often come to me very stressed because their child refuses to eat nutritious foods and she can see their mood changing, their sleep being affected, they develop allergies or constantly getting a cold or they have digestive issues like constipation. And they just need advice and support on how to get their child to eat healthy family meals.
