‘A gentle, direct way to work with the subconscious beliefs that quietly shape how we think, feel and act.’
PSYCH-K® is a collaborative process that rewrites unhelpful beliefs and narratives which hold you back from opening up your true potential for wellbeing, success and happiness.
A great deal of our day-to-day thinking, feeling and behaving happens below conscious awareness, guided by beliefs and narratives we hold about ourselves and the world, many of them formed years before we had any say in choosing them. Most of us can name at least one belief that feels like it works against us. I’m not good enough. I always do this. Nothing changes. We recognise the pattern, we can even trace where it came from, and still it persists. And there are other beliefs and narratives we might not be aware of yet that hold us back in the same way.
Even when we face physical challenges, the subconscious mind and our belief systems play a crucial role in supporting our recovery journey.
PSYCH-K® is a gentle, interactive process that helps you communicate directly with that subconscious level, addressing the beliefs that hold you back and replacing them with ones that genuinely support who you want to be, without needing to relive the past experiences that shaped them. It supports you on your journey towards greater wellbeing and self-realisation.
Why insight alone often isn’t enough
The subconscious mind plays a critical role in running our lives, and its primary purpose is to keep us safe and well. It gets “trained” by the environment we grow up in, taking in family values, societal and cultural norms, and our experiences at home, at school and with friends. From all of this, it derives the guiding principles and beliefs that shape how we think, feel and act.
Talking things through, journalling, or working with a therapist or coach can bring real clarity about where a belief stems from, how it has been holding you back, and what you would rather believe instead. This conscious understanding matters. But bringing the subconscious mind on board is often what makes the difference between understanding a pattern and actually shifting it, moving from old patterns that no longer serve you towards the change you choose.
One way facilitators often describe it is to compare the subconscious mind to a computer. If the conscious mind is what you are actively thinking about right now, the subconscious is closer to the software quietly running everything else in the background. PSYCH-K® offers a direct way of working with that underlying software, rather than only with what is on the screen.
What happens in a session
A session with a trained PSYCH-K® facilitator always starts by exploring your current reality and defining what aspect of your life you would like to address. The facilitator then guides your thinking towards what you would like instead, until you reach real clarity on the belief you want to shift.
PSYCH-K® then uses muscle testing, alongside specific body postures and protocols known as “balancing,” to support that new belief taking hold. Muscle testing is used throughout as a way of checking in with the subconscious response, listening rather than only talking. Early research using EEG brain mapping has looked at what is described as a “whole-brain state” reached during this process (PSYCH-K® Centre International – https://psych-k.com/psych-k-research/). Action steps play an important part too, and your facilitator will help you define what you feel ready to put into practice once the session is complete.
What it can help with
In my own practice, people most often bring self-worth and confidence challenges, stress, fears, habit and behavioural patterns they would like to change, career development questions, focus, leadership presence, a search for purpose and clarity, or relationship patterns they keep repeating. Many notice a sense of empowerment or renewed clarity afterwards, though everyone’s experience is different.
Please note that PSYCH-K® is not medical care, and it is not a replacement for professional mental or physical health support where that is needed. It is a complementary process that many people find helpful alongside good coaching, therapy or their own reflection.
