Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the oldest holistic healing systems in the world. Developed more than 3,000 years ago in India, it is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body and soul. Those who practice Ayurveda believe every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth.
According to Ayurveda, each of us has a unique mix of three mind and body principles or ‘doshas’. These are called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Derived from the five elements, the doshas are biological energies found throughout the human body and mind. They govern all physical and mental processes and provide every living being with an individual blueprint for health and happiness.
Ayurvedic treatments look to get to the root of the problem. They centre around the body and three Doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Your Ayurvedic Practitioner will identify your dosha through an initial consultation and each treatment will be tailored to your specific type for best results.
